It looks like it will last forever. I trust Bodum to not use leeching metals like lead, which is why I won't buy a similar mugs from Starbucks (made in China). I wanted a coffee cup that is 1) dishwasher safe, 2) maintains its temperature, and 3) microwaveable. Our 2 year old Bodum mugs are still perfect but I can see that they might crack if we weren't so careful and use plastic spoons only. Great product. I got ALL that plus a very cool looking design. The latest model is thicker and heavier than the older model.
You already know how cool they look, right. Period.Other than that, they are coffee mugs, albiet very cool ones. Think mug, not cup. If you are on the fence, buy a set. They keep my coffee hot, but I have learned long ago that it is less the material (although some are better) than the opening diameter which keeps the coffee hot. I read through all the reviews here before buying a set myself and I will have to say I was not disappointed.
They are not only quite hefty, but also larger than I expected. Glass, blah blah blah. First of all, the reviewer that said that the set they got was heavier than previously reviewed is spot on. Less surface area, less heat loss. You will very likely enjoy them. The set I received was just that.I was pleasantly surprised when I unwrapped the mugs.
They arrived undamaged and were packaged protectively.In addition to the large size, the mug has a nice slightly extruded lip around the opening, which makes for nice sipping.
No longer will you need to worry about burning your fingers trying to pick up a hot coffee mug. These mugs are uniquely styled and work wonderfully.
Since these mugs are insulated, I don't feel any of the warm coffee. Only negative thing I have to say about them is that I really enjoy holding a warm cup in my hands on cold mornings. These mugs are great for keeping coffee warm longer than normal mugs. Really love the light weight, and they hold the perfect amount.
Very disappointing. We are unable to see any difference between the insulated mugs and cheaper, off-the-shelf ceramic coffee mugs with regard to heat retension. Having purchased Bodum's insulated tumblers, which proved highly satisfatory in keeping beverages cold, we had high hopes that similar mugs would keep our coffee hot. Alas, what works with the cool does not with the warm.
